Marching bands and Beauty Queens..

Provo held the 4th July " Utah Valley" Parade, all week there had been this build up towards the weekend. We were reading on the website that you could start camping out along the street at 3pm the day before. Or pay $7 for a seat in the stand. We didn't go for either option, instead Susan went and laid the blankets out along the parade route at 6am the day of the parade. We got up an early to go and see the hot air balloon's ( it was to windy, so no balloon photo's) but by 7am the crowds were thick.. People had sleeping overnight to get a front row spot, even with our 6am effort we were at the back.. but we were close to to Port-a-loos.

Susan's sister Shannon came along and brought everyone breakfast, Cotton Candy..

People were watching from every view point!!

There were alot of horses in the parade and some floats advertising upcoming events..

Susan daughter Sarah was a COLOUR GUARD person in the Timpview High School Band, we were excited to see her do her stuff. There was heaps of school marching bands...

And Beauty Queens....

It was a great parade but by the end of it I was over the whole crowd and it was hot and a long walk back to the car and then lots of traffic..
Over all we had a great 4th July weekend...

  1. So you can't just rock up like the Launnie Christmas parade then and sit on the ditch :) Looks like fun! When I was in the US I LOVED the homecoming parade as it was SO American - all the beauty queens and cheerleaders etc :) We spent the 4th July at Jackson Hole Wyoming and I remember they had a cool parade too.
