Cove Fort

Our first stop on our recent road trip was at COVE FORT...
It was built in 1867 so that travellers would have somewhere to stop between Beaver and Fillmore in Utah. Built by Ira Hinckley (President Hinckley's Grandfather) it housed up to 75 travellers at a time... Brighman Young was a frequent guest..

The tours are run by Missionary Couples and they told us alot about how the pioneers had to make everything themselves.. No Bunnings back then...

Check Out the size of the bath.. Back then no fresh water for each person, first was the cleanest person (mother) and the baby was last....

Cove Fort is a great place to stop and makes you really appreciate all the things we have these days..

6th Grade Graduation

Today was Eliza's last day at Rock Canyon School. They had a Grade 6 Graduation Assembly today. It was alot different to what we are used to but was good as Eliza was a bit sad that she would miss out on the Grade 6 activities at Riverside Primary School....
All the Students received an certificate and a sash with all the students names on it...

All the Grades 6's performed two songs and they all got dressed up in their "good " clothes..
The slide show was good and we were worried that Eliza wouldn't be in it much, as she has only been there for half the year... But Eliza with her Basketball shorts and t-shirt were frequently featured.. Even footage of Eliza running in the FUN RUN.....

Eliza had a great time in Miss Miller Class........

In August she will attend "Centennial Middle School" but for now she is enjoying having a Summer Holiday....

Antelope Island

Antelope Island is in the Great Salt Lake, Gordon and Helen (the Marbles son) has been wanting to take us for ages, but it has been snowing, raining and just not working out... But today we made it!!!

So it's just near Layton and you can drive all the way out there and you make your way around the island at your own pace... Plenty of places to stop and take photo's.

The Island reminded us of Tasmania, even though you were on an island in the middle of Utah it felt like you were near the ocean...

We stopped at one of the lookouts, where the bugs attacked us.. At the entrance they said the "bugs were bad"... They were more than bad.. They were worst than flies....

These painted buffalo reminded us of the Cows at Ashgrove....

They had this old farm on the island which still had the households with the furniture in them... I just walked around and took photo's....

Where's ALL the Antelope... you say.... Well I just found out that I did take some pics (not good one's) of some Antelope, but they were more like small deer.....

Inside they had all the history and even the famous white suit!!!

But the best thing that was inside was the "ALL YOU CAN EAT KFC BUFFET"........

Take me out to the ball game..

Tonight we went to our first BYU Baseball game, yes I know... "what kind of Cougar Fan are you".... Well not loyal when it comes to baseball....

Robby scored a loose ball....

It was a nice night and we enjoyed watching the Cougars making some massive hits..

And some fast breaks.......

And we made some new friends...

And saw some Very weird looking Cougar fans... ( look closely and you might recognise him!!)

Eden was excited to be a Cougar fan again....

And so was Phebe.....

And when you go to baseball, this is the only way to eat popcorn........

Oh yes and they did win, just can't remember the scores as they won by 10....
